Are you passionate about cybersecurity? Are you curious on the AI advancements that can be leveraged within cybersecurity? If so, you might be on your way to becoming the next Tech Talent of the Year!
To apply, you need to have studied for 2 – 4 years at a university or college in Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia, and have basic programming skills.
So if you are a driven and committed student with an interest in these topics and you have inspired development and new insights during your studies, or you know someone who has – then it is time to apply or nominate! The last day to apply is January 14th, 2024.
Last year Shekhar Devm Upadhyay was crowned as the Tech Student of the Year 2023, after having impressed the judges with his passion for machine learning and his take on how it can be applied to different areas of sustainability work. The year before, winner of Tech talent of the year 2022 was Celine Helgesson Hallström. She describes her experience as the Tech Student of the Year:
“It’s been eight fantastic weeks. I especially appreciate the possibility to engage with so many different teams, in two different countries. The fact that I was able to decide for myself which areas and tasks I wanted to explore also appealed to me. I got to do a few interesting smaller tasks, in addition to one bigger, main assignment”, Celine says.

During February 12-16 , 8 semi-finalists will be welcomed to a digital case week at SEB and with support from SEB experts work individually on a case on the theme Cybersecurity and AI. The finalists will also participate in a mini Google Cloud Day on February 9 and get preparation material. During the first day of the case week, you will receive more in-depth information about the assignment and hands-on support to get started. You will have the possibility to work on the case until Thursday that week, and on Friday you will present your proposal to a jury. During the case week, you will also get the possibility to listen to inspirational speakers, have networking sessions, and much more. Of the 8 semi-finalists, three finalists will have the chance to take part in the Universum award ceremony in March when the winner will be announced.
The jury includes Joakim Jerbrant, Chief Architect at Google Cloud, professor Johanna Björklund from Umeå University, Petra Ålund, head of Technology, Anastasia Varava, AI Research Lead at SEBx, specialist at SEB, Predrag Mitrovic, Cyber Security Officer, Jan Olsson from Swedish Police and other representatives from SEB.
